I recently helped a friend sort through pictures of a trip through europe and central america.
they had more pictures of the sunrise and sunset than i could count. there were multiples for every city, each one beautiful and different. i realized that although i've seen some absolutely incredible sunrises and sunsets all over the world (my favorite being the sunrise off the shore of alaska from the bow of a moving cruise ship, camera in hand, fighting some glorious wind for the shot) that their's were different than mine. it was then that i realized: the sun never changes.
its our feet planted on the ground where we stand that decides if the clouds will appear blue, if the water will have fog, or if the mountains will glow.
this idea suggested strength, trust, reliance and reminded me that we each in ourselves have the power of choice.
be it cities, allowing gleams to filter through cracks between sky scrapers, volcanoes in costa rica with golden rays contrasting the ash covered earth, or oceans edging up to that glowing sky for as far as the eye can see- we are the ones who choose our sunset.
